On the behalf of the 2018 Southwest Decision Sciences Institute (SWDSI) Conference Team, I welcome you to the 49th annual meeting of the SWDSI in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

A total of 138 submissions were received for twenty-two different tracks this year. After a double blind review process, 128 submissions were accepted for presentations, which representing over 226 authors from seventeen different countries. For details on these presentations, please refer to SWDSI 2018 Program Pages. In addition, there are two special panels consisting of deans’ panel and journal editors panel. There are also four exciting workshops, which include introduction to predictive analytics, structural equation modeling with WarpPLS: A focus on publication in top-tier decision sciences and information systems journals, how to use assessment analysis to improve student and instructor’s performance, and Hadoop framework and cloud computing: a hands-on.

Our conference theme for this year “When Teaching and Research Serve Students” is well presented in the above presentations. I am sure that you will find many of these sessions, panels, and workshops of great benefits for you in learning new knowledge and ideas for enhancing your teaching and research methods, which ultimately they will positively serve the students.

The SWDSI conference this year in Albuquerque could have not been happened without your efforts and contributions. An excellent team who worked very diligently to promote this conference made all the accomplishments. I would like to thank all the current SWDSI officers, track chairs, session chairs, reviewers, organizers, panelists, proceedings editor, and proceedings production coordinator from the bottom of my heart. Special thanks go to the current SWDSI president, president-elect, and our several past presidents for their contributions and mentoring efforts. I hope you have a pleasant stay in Albuquerque.
